Wood Decks
Timeless Craftsmanship for Tampa Bay's Historic &
Waterfront Homes
There is an unmistakable prestige in the warmth, grain, and soul of authentic hardwood. At Trailblazer Decks, we specialize in the master-level installation of exotic timbers for homeowners who value natural beauty and structural longevity above all else.
Whether you are restoring the outdoor charm of a historic Hyde Park bungalow or seeking a sophisticated, organic feel for a waterfront retreat in St. Pete, our custom wood decks are designed to age as gracefully as the architecture they surround.
Why Choose Luxury Hardwood?
For the discerning homeowner, the benefits of exotic wood go far beyond aesthetics. When properly installed by an artisan, these decks provide a 40 to 50-year lifespan that outlasts almost any other outdoor material.
- Natural Heat Mitigation: Unlike stone or darker composites, exotic hardwoods remain significantly cooler underfoot, making them the ideal choice for exposed pool decks and sunny riverfront properties.
- Biophilic Design: Hardwood creates a psychological connection to nature, turning your backyard into a true sanctuary that feels organic and lived-in.
- Graceful Aging: You have the choice to maintain the wood’s original rich color with annual sealing or allow it to weather naturally into a stunning, sophisticated silver patina—a look highly sought after for historic renovations in Seminole Heights and Riverside Heights.
- Structural Integrity: These woods are so dense that they do not sag, warp, or contract, ensuring your deck remains as solid and level as the day it was completed.
Wood Decking Materials & FAQ's
- Pressure-treated Pine 5/4 Deck Boards* - Available in standard and select options.
- Ipe Brazilian Walnut - Beautiful and Natural wood that can be oiled yearly or left to patina naturally.
- Cumaru Brazilian Teak - Similar to ipe but may be priced slightly lower.
- Yellow Balau - A Southeast Asian hardwood with golden to light brown tones.
For Luxury Hardwoods, we build framing between 16’’ and 20” on center between joists, based on the thickness of the boards. We build all framing (for composite and *pressure-treated pine deck boards) at 12” on center between joists.
Hardwood decking will need to be oiled or sealed regularly. Pressure-treated Pine will have to be sanded and stained after installation.
